Thy
National Park Thy is renowned for its wealth of fantastic nature and the area offers the opportunity to experience the wide open spaces and feel the sand between your toes, as well as providing lots of adventures in the natural surroundings.
In August 2008 a challenging MTB route was established in Vilsbøl Dune Plantation in Thy. It was opened by then Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who along with the Minister of Environment also cycled the route.
The route is marked with white arrows and it takes you through coniferous and deciduous forest. The route starts on Klitmøllervej 86, by the parking area near lake Vandet Sø.
In the surrounding towns in Thy, you will find lots of opportunities in beautiful nature or historical areas. The neighbouring town of Klitmøller is furthermore known as Cold Hawaii, a surfers paradise.
If you are not into mounatin biking then maybe you want to try surfing. Take a surf class for the entire family in Cold Hawaii where WestWind Surf Shop and Cold Hawaii Surf Camp both offer courses. You can also learn more about the history of the Vikings in Northern Jutland at the Viking Burial Site of Tømmerby.
The Nationalpark Thy which is only a few kilometres away from the mountain bike route offers many experiences where breathtaking nature and wildlife are meeting.
