Did you know that paper waste makes up 15% of the Danes' total waste and that more than 430,000 tonnes of paper are collected each year for recycling? Paper can be used again and again - in fact 6 - 7 times! Museum for Papirkunst's new exhibition Designbypaper gives you an exciting insight into the paper's fantastic application possibilities.

Paper has momentum in these times where an increased sustainable perspective is required and where new technology creates opportunities to exploit the potential of paper.

Designbypaper is a snapshot of how paper has been used in furniture and design production through the ages and what significance the imaginative and poetic material has for contemporary designers… and not least, hints of what design in paper can contribute to the future design scene.

The exhibition shows a large number of objects that use paper as a material. For example, in 2015 Carlsberg started the development of a bottle made from sustainably grown wood fiber, the same raw material used in paper production. Carlsberg's goal is to achieve their ultimate ambition to create a 100% bio-based bottle without polymer. In the exhibition you can see what the beer bottle of the future looks like.

There are also examples of design objects that comment conceptually and critically on the design field. - both cardboard and paper furniture, paper urns, paper lamps, washable paper T-shirts, free foldable cardboard furniture for children and much more.

The exhibition Designbypaper has a wide audience appeal and will surprise and enlighten both young and old; because paper as a material has much more to offer than you might think!

The Museum of Paper Art follows the authorities' guidelines regarding. corona.
The museum cafe serves ice cream, coffee, pie and lovely cream buns. In Papirværkstedet you can unfold your inner paper designer and in Museumsbutikken it abounds with new exciting products from Japan, Portugal, New York and London - and everything is of course made of paper.
