Memorial wall

The memorial wall.

In the park behind the church is erected a wall in memory of Kristian Ulrik and Per Sonne - two young men fallen in the combat against the German occupying power. Christian Ulrik took part in forming the resistance group Holger Danske, and he directed the reception of British weapon droppings in Himmerland. The group was split up in 1944. Christian Ulrik was executed in Ryvangen. His last letter from the Gestapo prison was published after the war and is still remembered by many people. Per Sonne took part in Holger Danske, group 4. Together with 10 other persons he was shot down on Roskildevej in Copenhagen.

The sculptor Henrik Starcke has executed many decorations, for example for the United Nations-building in New York.
