Welcome to the culture city of Aalborg - a living and thriving big city (in the eyes of the Danes) with lots of pulse, atmosphere, attractions and attractive shopping environments. Aalborg has in the later years gone through a tremendous transformation from a broken down working town to a knowledge center and cultural city. You will sense this transformation, when you move through the city and especially at Aalborg's new water front, which embodies big city coziness.
The city is full of hotels in every size and with every kind of price tag, amazing restaurants with specialties from all over the world, cozy streets, pretty old houses and award winning architecture and a buffet of cultural experiences. If you especially enjoy riveting theater, amazing concerts or beautiful music, then Aalborg is the ideal place for you to explore. Walk along the water front and pass the fountain on Toldbods Plads, which squirts water in-sync with the music on certain hours, The Utzon Center and Nordkraft and finally The House of Music (Musikkens Hus).
If you are bringing your kids along, Aalborg Zoo is definitely worth a visit, where you can experience the beautiful animals in the picturesque surroundings.
Aalborg is the culture capital of North Jutland, and the city has plenty of events such as concerts all year. If you are looking to shop 'till you drop, then also see the shopping opportunities in Aalborg.
Of recurring events we would like to mention Aalborg Carnival, which is Europe's largest folk carnival parade. For an entire week Aalborg is in party mode and celebrates the Star parade, Battle of Carnival Bands and the Children's Carnival, before it all culminates Saturday, where everyone can join the Main Parade. The streets are filled with happy, dressed up people and it is definitely an event you can't afford to miss.
In June there is Aalborg Regatta, where the ships flow into the harbor, which is full of people enjoying the entertainment in the shape and many different activities.
Aalborg in Red is celebrated in the last week of August, where the city is dressed in red colors and there are plenty of activities such as music, fashion events and sport activities.
It is hardly any surprise that Aalborg can offer taste experiences in every size and in every price range. Find many cozy cafes at the square called C.W. Obels Plads, which transforms into an outdoor skating rink from November until March, such as Cafe Vi2 and Søgaard's Brew House, who make their own beers. If you truly want to be spoiled, you must try Restaurant Fusion, which is located on Aalborg's water front or Restaurant Tabu and Mortens Kro, which both take gourmet dishes to a whole new level. All three restaurants is on the list of the best restaurants in North Jutland.
In Aalborg there are of course plenty of hotels, which are located in the city center and are in walking distance of the city's attractions and busy life.
